Electrical

Andrew Breakwell

For the last 7 years I have helped BACC with technical issues and interpretations mainly for home appliances.

I work as an independent consultant, and as well as helping the BACC, the ITC and the ASA, I provide advice, help and training to companies interested in improving their performance (and hence profitability) by introducing and adopting “Best World Practices” to their methods of working.  A possibly strange, but rewarding pastime for someone living in the Brecon Beacons, you may think, especially when so many of my neighbours are into ‘managing’ sheep.

My experience comes from an engineering degree gained in the ‘70s, finance and accountancy qualifications in the ‘80s, and performing a Masters degree in industrial management in the early ‘90s.  During most of this I was employed in senior management roles, ranging from new product design, manufacturing and costing methods, marketing and new product planning, with several Home Appliance companies, mainly in the UK, but also the USA, Germany and Italy.

With this broad experience, as well as being able to analyse technical substantiation data, I can ‘appreciate’ much of the creative language used in some scripts possibly influencing viewers with double meaning and innuendo, resulting in my ‘occasional’ requests for amendments.

Domestically, as well as having a long suffering wife having to put up with me working from home, I have two teenage daughters at college and school, and so appreciate that the payment for BACC consulting has increased form the 3 guineas in the early ‘60s mentioned by Dr Singleton.

My passion is cars, and I have, over the last 6 years renovated my Triumph TR6 sports car, which I’ve owned since 1976.  If only I could sort out the elusive gremlins in the overdrive!  So if any scripts need advice involving test driving Ferraris, Porsches etc please send them my way!
